Doug Bennett
vocals - Doug & The Slugs
born October 31, 1951 - died October 16, 2004
died from complications following heart problems.
Dan Brisebois - author of
: Doug always had a smile, a joke and a beer for anyone he called a friend. It was a pleasure to work with him and a priveledge to know him on a personal level, even if we didn't necessarily agree on who would win a fight between Kirk and Picard. You never left one of his shows without a smile on your face. He will be dearly missed and always remembered as one of our true treasures when it comes to pure entertainment on stage. The world is a little less jovial now.

(Jimi B): BB and I worked together many times. We co-wrote "Shake" that would appear on both our albums and "Red White & Blue". He was one of the most talented musicians to come out of the Canadian scene. Although difficult at times, his knowledge of music made hima respected figure in our industry. We had begun production on my second album - though we only managed to record 2 new songs, one of which I feature him on my singles page called New York Lights.

(Holly Woods - Toronto): I remember working with Barney on ASSAULT & FLATTERY. We were having a spaghetti supper on his boat talking about my career as a solo artist. We'd just finished writing one of the tracks. He co-wrote, produced, played guitar - did practically everything on alot of that record. He sat in the control room while Darby and I sang "Cats & Dogs" and we just laughed the whole time. He was definitely one of a kind.

Greg Godovitz - (Fludd, Goddo): I met Brian in high school and within weeks we were practicing guitar and bass in the hopes of putting together a group. Shortly after, his brother Ed returned from England and we formed our first 'beat group', The Pretty Ones. Brian was very focussed and it wasn''t long before he and Ed were writing original songs. Later, in Fludd, I was proud to contribute bass and vocal duties to a large repertoire of great radio friendly songs that included "Cousin Mary", "Turned 21", "I Held Out", "Brother and Me", and loads more. Brian was a great friend and musical partner, we saw a lot of the world together, and I honor his memory by maintaining tight personal ties to the Pilling family today and forever.
