The Guess Who becomes the first band to ever be inducted into the Canadian Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. 1991: Neil Young plays to a full house at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. 2006: Toronto born John Shand guitarist for Manchild and Thor was discovered dead in his car near Barrie, ON. 2009: Anne Murray releases her autobiography, "All Of Me."
November 3 1977: Triumph release the ROCK & ROLL MACHINE lp. 2009: Matthew Good begins a new tour in support of his VANCOUVER lp in Abbotsford, BC.

1978: Anne Murray has the biggest single of her career as "You Needed Me" tops Billboard's charts. 1985: SCTV's Andrea Martin & Joe Flaherty host the annual Juno Awards in Toronto. 2006: Robbie Robertson is among the recipients at the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards Gala in Ottawa. 2008: Sony releases SUPER HITS - a best of from Jeff Healey.
November 5 1947: Don McDougall, Guess Who guitarist, is born in Winnipeg. 1959: Bryan Adams is born in Kingston, ON. 1965: Robbie Robertson, then guitarist for Bob Dylan, is in the New York Hilton when the city suffers a blackout. He screams, "I want my mommy." 1977: Big band great Guy Lombardo dies. 2001: Default release THE FALLOUT. 2002: Jann Arden releases her live album with the Vancouver Symphony. Guess what it's called ... that's right ... JANN ARDEN LIVE WITH THE VANCOUVER SYMPHONY.
November 6 1946: Peter Jermyn of Luke & The Apostles is born in Kingston, Ontario. 1982: "Up Where We Belong," performed by Joe Cocker but written by Buffy Sainte-Marie tops Billboard's Top 100. 2001: Jann Arden releases GREATEST HURTS. 2004: Glass Tiger hosts a Saturday night retro show on CIQB-FM in Barrie, Ont. signifying the reunion of original members Alan Frew, Al Connelly, Wayne Parker and Sam Reid. 2009: The Olympic torch relay makes a stop in Cold Lake, Alberta. Among the musical entertainment are performances by the 4 Wing Band, Mariana's Trench and the reformation of Sugakane, featuring Cold Lake native Alex Varughese.
November 7 1951: Nick Gilder is born in London, UK. 1955: Shirley Rose Eikhard is born in Sackville, New Brunswick. 1974: Bachman Turner Overdrive finish off the concert year with a show at New York's Fillmore East. 1995: Rush's Alex Lifeson records "Just Scream", "Crawl" and "Will of the Gun" on Tom Cochrane's RAGGED ASS ROAD. 2003: Neil Young appears at a show in Hong Kong with the Rolling Stones to squash fears of a SARS epidemic. It's the Stones' first time there, and such high fees were charged for their appearances that it reportedly costs Hong Kong taxpayers over $100 million. 2009: Bonnyville. Albertas's Mike Plume releases his new cd 8:30 NEWFOUNDLAND during a show in his hometown.
November 8 1976: Burton Cummings plays his first show as a solo artist at the Manitoba Centennial Centre in Winnipeg, MB. 1984: Bruce Cockburn releases "If I Had A Rocket Launcher," the day after Ronald Reagan was elected for a second term as US President. 2005: The Tragically Hip releases YER FAVOURITES and THAT NIGHT IN TORONTO simultaneously. 2006: Lee Aaron releases LIVE IN LONDON on DVD. 2008: Ronnie Hawkins is inducted into the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame, his birth state. 2009: Bonnyville, Alberta sees arguably its biggest concert ever come to town, when country sensations Charlie Major and George Canyon take the stage, which includes a surprise visit from Clayton Bellamy.
November 9 1974: Bachman Turner Overdrive sees "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" top the Billboard's singles charts. 1979: Trooper plays the Coliseum in Edmonton, which is filmed and used for videos. 1993: Bryan Adams releases his first 'best of' collection, SO FAR SO GOOD. 2000: John Kay & Steppenwolf release the CD, GREATEST HITS LIVE, whose theme should be self-evident. 2003: Helix re-releases WALKING THE RAZOR'S EDGE on CD in the US.
2004: Originally released in '81, Triumph re-releases ALLIED FORCES, STAGES, and NEVER SURRENDER in the US. 2007: Hedley's second album, FAMOUS LAST WORDS, is certified platinum in Canada - only 10 days after its release.

2000: Rush's Geddy Lee releases his first solo album, MY FAVOURITE HEADACHE. 2005: The original 1978 version of One Horse Blue reunited for a one-time event during the Canadian Finals Rodeo week at the Shaw Conference Centre, "Cowboy Cabaret" put on by the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce. Also on the bill were the band's heroes Poco and Pure Prairie League. 2008: Angels To Ashes and Social Code back up Finger 11 in Cold Lake for the opening of the Energy Centre.
2009: Blue Rodeo releases the double album THE THINGS WE LEFT BEHIND on cd and vinyl, and does a free show on the roof of the Diesel Playhouse in Toronto.
November 11 2007: Stony Plain Records releases the new Ian Tyson album, YELLOWHEAD TO YELLOWSTONE AND OTHER LOVE STORIES. The CD features Jay Aymar's composition about Don Cherry, "My Rose Coloured Cherry.
November 12 1966: Riots at Hollywood's Sunset Strip provide the inspiration for Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth." featuring Neil Young. 1975: Triumph make their concert debut at the Knob Hill Tavern in Toronto. 1989: Andrew Cash joins Melissa Etheridge, Bryan Adams, Joe Cocker, and several German bands, including The Scorpions for a free concert at the Berlin Wall, as citizens are allowed to move freely between East and West Germany for the first time since the beginning of the Cold War. 2007: Tom Cochrane is officially named an Honorary Colonel for 409 Tactical Squadron in a ceremony at CFB Cold Lake, Alberta. He's no stranger to the military, having made several stops at 4 Wing before, and participating in "Support the Troops" tours. His father was also a WWII pilot.
November 13 1960: Wayne Parker, bassist for Glass Tiger is born in Newmarket, Ont. 1982: Lee Aaron's debut, the LEE AARON PROJECT is released on Freedom Records.
November 14 1982: Joni Mitchell's WILD THINGS RUN FAST is released. 2009: Downchild Blues Band headlines Massey Hall in Toronto for the first time, on their 40th anniversary cross-Canada tour.
November 15 1974: Chad Kroeger of Nickelback is born in Hanna, AB. 1996: Under the name 'Big Al Dexter,' Rush's Alex Lifeson sits in with The Dexters, the house band at Toronto's Orbit Room and records "Born Under A Bad Sign", "All Along The Watch Tower" and "For What It's Worth/White Rabbit". The recordings are sold through a Rush fanclub.
2005: Jim Gilmour of Saga releases his second solo lp, GREAT ESCAPE. 2007: Paul Anka is inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
November 16 1977: Rush receives three gold records for sales of their albums 2112, ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE and A FAREWELL TO KINGS, albums #4 through 6, their three most recent. 1980: Loverboy's self titled debut is released in the US. 2009: Nickelback debuts their new single, "Burn It To The Ground" as the new WWE Monday Night Raw theme song.
November 17 1946: Bob McBride of Lighthouse fame is born. 1974: Gordon Lightfoot's sister Beverly accepts the Music Operators of America's award on his behalf for Pop Record of the Year on Jukeboxes in a ceremony in New York City for the album SUNDOWN. 2009: Hedley releases the album, THE SHOW MUST GO ON.
November 18 1989: Rush releases the PRESTO lp. 1997: Aldo Nova releases NOVA'S DREAM, a predominately electronic instrumental album. 2003: April Wine releases the BEST OF cd in Canada only. 2008: Avril Lavigne and Nelly Furtado were among the big winners during the 19th annual SOCAN Awards Gala in Toronto, taking five awards between them. Other winners included Chantal Kreviazuk, Finger 11, Shane Yellowbird and Tom Cochrane. The late Oscar Peterson was awarded a Special Achievement Award for contributions to Canada's music industry and/or musical heritage. 2009: Jann Arden is presented the "Vancouver Favourite" award and plaque at the Orpheum Theatre by the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame.
Nov 19 1981: RE-AC-TOR, Neil Young's 16th and final album for Reprise Records, until his return to the label in 1988, is released. 1983: Loverboy are the featured group on Saturday Night Live. 2006: Hometown girl Nelly Furtado performs during half time at the Grey Cup in Winnipeg, where BC beat Montreal handily.
November 20 1954: Frank Marino of Mahogany Rush is born in Montreal as Francesco Antonio Marino. 1990: Blue Rodeo releases the album, CASINO. 1993: Seventeen years after their last live performance, the reunited The Band (minus Robbie Robertson and the late Richard Manual) release a new album, JERICHO.
November 21 1989: Rush releases PRESTO. 2000: ROAD ROCK VOLUME 1, a live album by Neil Young with "Friends & Relatives" is released.
2006: April Wine release their 16th studio album, ROUGHLY SPEAKING.
November 22 1970: Crowbar appears with Van Morrison at Toronto's Massy Hall, shortly before the release of their album BAD MANORS. 2005: The Pursuit of Happiness release the greatest hits package WHEN WE RULED. 2006: John Allan Cameron dies at the age of 67. He'd been hospitalized for over year with cancer. 2009: Haydain Neale, Jacksoul's front man, dies at Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital at the age of 39 after a seven-month battle with lung cancer.
November 23 1996: The Tragically Hip's show at Cobo Hall in Detroit is taped and becomes the LIVE BETWEEN US album. 2002: Rush perform in front of 40,000 fanatics in Rio De Janeiro. The show is filmed for the RUSH IN RIO DVD/CD.
2004: Trooper re-releases TWO FOR THE SHOW on CD through MCA in the US. 2008: Gordon Lightfoot is among the winners at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in St. John's, NF, taking home the Classic Canadian Folk Album award for LIGHTFOOT! Other winners included Corb Lund for English Songwriter of the Year and Luke Doucet for Contemporary Album of the Year for BLOOD'S TOO RICH.

November 25 2007: The Trews release "Hold Me In Your Arms" online and to the radio stations, prior to the release of the album NO TIME FOR LATER. The song was debuted at the Grey Cup half time show.
November 26 1965: The Lovin' Spoonful, which features Canadian Zal Yanovsky's single "You Didn't Have To Be So Nice" peaks at #5 on the US billboard charts. 1982: At a ceremony at her manager's Malibu, CA home, Joni Mitchell marries her bass player Larry Klein. 1994: The Tragically Hip play at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. The show is taped for the HIPPEPONYMOUS box set. 1996: Barney Bentall releases his first, 'best of' collection on CD. 2009: Susan Boyle does a free show at First Canadian Place in Toronto in support her debut album.
November 27 1987: The Cowboy Junkies record THE TRINITY SESSION at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Toronto. The next year, the Los Angeles Times votes the album one of the ten best of the year. 2000: Jann Arden releases BLOOD RED CHERRY.
November 28 1993: Steppenwolf drummer Jerry Edmonton is killed in a car crash, not far from his Santa Barbara, California home at the age of 47.
2002: Anvil releases BACKWAXED, originally a 1985 product. 2006: Glass Tiger releases the live album EXTENDED VERSIONS on CD.
2008: Buffy Sainte-Marie is honoured with a lifetime achievement award during the tenth annual Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards in Toronto, which also saw Shane Yellowbird win for best Male Vocalist. 2009: Theory of a Deadman and Blue Rodeo perform at the half-time show during the 97th Grey Cup in Calgary.
November 29 1964: "Ringo" from Lorne Greene (Ben Cartright/Commander Adama) tops Billboard's chart. 1978: Nick Gilder's "Hot Child In The City" reaches number one in the US. 1998: Celine Dion's duet with R. Kelly, "I'm Your Angel" begins a month-long run atop Billboard's chart.
