1979: Max Webster plays in Switzerland for the first time ever, in Zurich.

2003: Rush's Alex Lifeson cameos on The Trailer Park Boys.
2003: The Guess Who and The Polka King, Walter Ostanek are the musical inductees in the year's Canada's Walk of Fame ceremonies in Toronto.

1969: John Lennon and Yoko Ono record "Give Peace A Chance" while at Montreal's Queen Elizabeth Hotel during their "bed-in."

2004: Avril Lavigne enters the American album charts at No. 1 with her second album, UNDER MY SKIN. The world shudders, then realizes it's better than a new Britney Spears album at least.

2007: Yorkville hosts the Toronto Music Festival, celebrating 50 years since the "Summer of Love." Luke & The Apostles and Jon Lee & The Checkmates are among those performing.

June 3
1954: Dan Hill, most famous, I suppose ... for "Sometimes When We Touch," is born in Toronto.

1971: The Band finish their first tour of the UK with a show at London's Royal Albert Hall.

1972: The Rolling Stones begin their EXILE ON MAIN STREET tour in front of 17,000 people in Vancouver. It's the group's first North American show in over three years. Stevie Wonder was the opening act.

1988: A 75-voice children's choir joined Crosby, Stills & Nash in "Teach the Children'' at a Montreal peace concert. The event also featured Bruce Cockburn, Quebec pop star Michel Rivard and the Soviet rock band Aquarium. 1987: During a show at The Marquee in London, Bryan Adams records "Run Rudolph Run." The song is included on a Special Olympics charity album.

1989: David Clayton-Thomas is among the performers to unveil the Toronto Skydome.

1994: Bob McBride, the former lead singer of Lighthouse, was sentenced to 90 days in jail in an Ottawa courtroom for twice robbing a drug store to feed his heroin addiction. The judge also ordered McBride to organize two benefit concerts to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs.

1995: Bryan Adams' "Have You Ever Loved A Woman" tops Billboard's pop chart.

1997: Rush releases RETROSPECTIVE 2.

2003: Shania Twain, Robbie Robertson, Luc Plamondon, Maureen Forrester, Ginette Reno, Joni Mitchell and William Shatner are all on the inductees list for Canada's Walk of Fame ceremonies in Toronto.

2006: While on a sabatical in northwestern Europe, Jane Siberry changes her name to Issa.

1970: Crosby Stills Nash & Young begin six shows in three days at the Fillmore East.

1986: The Conspiracy of Hope concert tour, starring Bryan Adams along with Sting, Peter Gabriel, and U2, opens at San Francisco's Cow Palace.

1996: Bryan Adams releases 18 'TIL I DIE.

2006: Paul Shaffer (Saturday Night Live, Blues Brothers, Late Night w/ David Letterman), Robert Goulet and Jann Arden are all presented with stars on the Canadian Walk of Fame, or at least that's when it was on TV, hosted by WWE babe Trish Stratus.

1959: "The Happy Gang," featuring the comedic duo of Wayne & Shuster, is broadcast on CBC Radio for the last time.

1991: Trooper releases the TEN lp.

1999: Rush, Juliette Cavazi, Celine Dion and Buffy Ste Marie are all on the list when the newest inductees into Canada's Walk of Fame are presented with their stars in Toronto.

2005: Paul Anka, Alanis Morrisette and Daniel Lanois are all presented with stars on Canada's Walk of Fame in a ceremony in Toronto.

June 6
1971: Domenic Troiano plays his last show with Bush at the Bitter End in LA. Portions of the show are included in the band's only album reissued in 1973: Country babe Lisa Brokop is born in Surrey, BC.

1987: The fifth annual Prince's Trust Rock Gala at Wembley Arena in London, UK features the likes of George Harrison, Elton John, Ringo Starr, and Bryan Adams.

1990: Alannah Myles picks up an Elvis Award as Best Newcomer at the Second International Rock Awards in Los Angeles.

2000: The Tragically Hip release MUSIC AT WORK.

1972: Pepper Tree, featuring Brian MacLeod, play at Toronto's Massey Hall, along with The Stampeders, Gary Buck and Edward Bear. The show was the Canadian equivalent to their Canadian International Talent at the Maple Music Junket in Europe.

1988: Bob Dylan performs at the Concord Pavilion in California with Neil Young. It's the beginning of a tour that gets dubbed 'The Interstate 88 Tour' after the design on the backstage passes.

1993: John Kay & Steppenwolf perform at Harley Davidson's 90th birthday party in Milwaukee, WI.

2000: Neil Young is the only musical inductee in the year's Canada's Walk of Fame ceremonies in Toronto.

2001: Stampeders re-release RUBES DUDES & ROWDIES, and OVER 70 MINUTES WITH, their second compilation in the series, in the US on Unidisc.

2004: Lee Aaron and husband John Armstrong welcome the birth of their first child, Angella.

2005: Triumph re-releases '99's SURVEILLANCE on CD in the US.
2005: Rush's Alex Lifeson and Blue Rodeo's Jim Cuddy are among the performers at the White Ribbon benefit concert against violence against women at The Phoenix Club in Toronto.

2008: After over 20 years apart, Triumph reunites for the Swedish Rock Festival. Playing with them is Dave Dunlop, Rik Emmett's guitarist on his solo tours.

1977: Trooper releases the KNOCK 'EM DEAD KID lp.

1998: Bryan Adams, Glenn Gould, Gordon Lightfoot and Anne Murray are the musical inductees for the very first Canada's Walk of Fame presentation in Toronto.

1998: Neil Peart from Rush guests on sessions with Jeff Berlin that becomes Berlin's CHAMPION lp later that year.

2007: Nickelback is the only musical entry in that year's Canadian Walk of Fame ceremonies in Toronto.

1960: Brad Kilburn, bassist for Brandon Wolf is born in Calgary.

1976: Rush play the first of three nights in Toronto. The taping becomes ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE.

1991: Brian Greenway performs a show at the Fuzzy Pub in Laval, QB. The show is taped for a television special called "Brian Greenway & Friends." The friends include April Wine & Mashmakhan-mate Jerry Mercer, Jeff Nystrom from Kick Axe and others.

2002: The Tragically Hip release IN VIOLET LIGHT.

1970: The Guess Who perform in front of President Richard Nixon at the White House. Mrs. Nixon asked them ahead of time not to play "American Woman."

2004: Steppenwolf's John Kay and Diana Krall are the musical inductees in that year's Canada's Walk of Fame celebrations in Toronto.Kay's presenter is non other than Peter Fonda, star of 'Easy Rider,' the epitome of biker films.

1950: Ra McGuire of Trooper is born in Vancouver, BC.

2005: HMV Canada removes all Alanis Morissette product from its shelves after the songstress decides to sell her acoustic version of JAGGED LITTLE PILL exclusively through the Starbucks coffee chain.

2006: Rush releases RUSH - REPLAY X 3, a 3 DVD set of live material, EXIT STAGE LEFT, GRACE UNDER PRESSURE and A SHOW OF FANS, all previously available at one time or another, but not on DVD, to the delight of Dan.

1894: The doors to Toronto's Massey Hall open for the first time, with a performance of Handel's "Messiah."

1983: Buzz Shearman, singer for Leigh Ashford and Moxy dies in a motorcycle accident.

2006: Alex Varughese from Sugakane plays the first of two shows in two days with The JFR Project in Varughese's hometown of Cold Lake, AB.

1973: Steppenwolf's business manager, Joe Sayler, is shot in the arm by two intruders in his West Hollywood apartment.

1977: Burton Cummings performs two shows at the Bottom Line Club in New York City.

1989: Ringo Starr unveils the latest edition of his All-Starr band, this time featuring Rick Danko and Levon Helm, among others.

1997: Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor releases his first solo album, GONE.

1969: Toronot's first major rock festival, the two-day Toronto Pop Festival begins at Varsity Stadium and Varsity Arena. 50,000 attend to see the likes of Steppenwolf, The Band, Kensington Market, The Byrds, Tiny Tim and Blood Sweat & Tears, among others.

2005: Bryan Adams' boxset, CHRONICLES, containing YOU WANT IT YOU GOT IT, CUTS LIKE A KNIFE and RECKLESS is released Stateside.

2003: Our Lady Peace win Best Video and Best Cinematography for "Innocent" at the MuchMusic Video Awards. Avril Lavigne wins Best International Video for "Sk8er Boi," while Shania Twain grabs the MuchMoreMusic Award for the video to "Up!"

1880: "Oh Canada" is sung for the first time in a church outside Montreal. Calixa Lavallée, a well-known composer at the time, wrote the music to French lyrics penned by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier.

1994: Lee Aaron's CALL OF THE WILD, originally released in 1985 is released on CD.

1995: Neil Young comes on stage to replace an ailing Eddie Vedder during a Pearl Jam concert in San Fransisco. The fans are not happy 'cuz they don't know what a God Neil is.

1997: BURNING FOR BUDDY II is released. It feature's Rush's Neil Peart performing "One O' Clock Jump."

2006: The Nylons, two members of who are gay, perform during Toronto's Gay Pride celebrations.

2008: The Road Hammers release their first American album, BLOOD SWEAT AND STEEL.

1952: Brian "Too Loud" MacLeod, guitarist for Chilliwack and The Headpins and famed producer is born in St. John's Newfoundland.

1969: Lighthouse play Carnegie Hall for the first time. Everyone in the audience is given a free copy of their first lp.

1977: Max Webster's "High Class In Borrowed Shoes" enters the charts at #91.

1978: The legendary Riverboat Club in Toronto's Yorkville Village closes, with a performance by Murray McLauchlan.

2009: The Mike Plume Band releases the video for "8:30 Newfoundland."

1976: Bachman Cummings release their second album, JUKEBOX, a collection of covers of tunes the two Canadian icons grew up with, as well as a lounge style version of "American Woman."

2009: Doug & The Slugs reform - sort of. The original lineup, minus Doug Bennett who died in 2004, along with new singer Ted Okos perform for the first time in Langley, BC.

June 27
1987: The "Shakin' All Over Concert" in Winnipeg, MB features ten of the city's early rock bands, and features the likes of Neil Young performing with his Kelvin High School buddies The Squires, Burton Cummings, Randy Bachman, Chad Allan, Fred Turner of Bachman Turner Overdrive and Brave Belt, and Kurt Winter.

1995: Godfather of grunge Neil Young and his disciples Pearl Jam release their collaborative album MIRROR BALL It peaks at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

June 28
1970: The Band, Janis Joplin, Ian & Sylvia, Mashmakhan and a host of others take part in the Festival Expres Toronoto-Calgary train/concert excursion.

1973: The Band, the Grateful Dead, and the Allman Brothers Band perform for a crowd of 600,000 (larger by half than Woodstock!) in upstate New York at the Watkins Glen "Summer Jam."

1987: Everyone who was anyone in Winnipeg's formative rock years was on stage at the Convention Centre for the Winnipeg Bands Reunion. Among the cast were Neil Young, Chad Allan, Dianne Heatherington, CF Turner, Burton Cummings, Randy Bachman and a million others.

2005: Avril Lavigne and Sum 41's Deryck Whibley announce their engagement. Whibley popped the question during Lavigne's European tour. All he can think of afterwards is "I hope she's not the bitch I've heard she is."

2007: Tom Cochrane is named an honorary Colonel of 409 Tactical Fighter Squadron at 4 Wing in Cold Lake, AB, the country's training base for F-18 fighter pilots. Cochrane had visited 4 Wing twice previously.

1974: Neal Peart replaces John Rutsey as Rush's drummer.

1978: Tafelmusik give their first concert in Toronto.

2004: Rush releases FEEDBACK, their first album of all-covers. In fact, it's the only time they've EVER recorded covers, except for an indie '45 before their label signing in '74.
2004: The Tragically Hip release their tenth studio effort, IN BETWEEN EVOLUTION.

2006: Lee Aaron releases the jazz lp BEAUTIFUL THINGS.

2007: Paul Anka, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, and Anne Murray are all immortalized on Canadian postage stamps.

1948: Murray McLauchlan is born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland.

1955: Helix frontman Brian Vollmer is born in Listowel, Ont.

1974: Gordon Lightfoot becomes one of the few artists in rock history, and the first Canadian solo artist, to have a single and album hit the top of Billboard with the album SUNDOWN, and its title track.
